Husthwaite and back

Hustwaite and Back Walking

Me and my friend a fellow female Happy Eater went on a walk around the historic village of Husthwaite where I once lived as a child. Nestled just below the White Horse of Kilburn and near Coxwold. Husthwaite has many scenic views and a new steak house called the Tomahawk. Although we could only have a drink there as the gas and kitchen was shut down. The walk along with a extra detour as the field (on one of our many tourist information ℹ️ leaflets) was too flooded to go through. So we walked back and went another way and past Baxby Manor and the caravan park near the Hidaway.
Here are some photos to prove we did the 4 and a half miler!

We went on the shorter walk 3.

The New Inn - Easingwold

After our adventure we had a lovely meal at the New Inn in Easingwold on the main road 'Long Street'.  Shout out to the 2 men that served us that looked like they were related, one of them apparently one of the owners.

Great Food & Fantastic Drink in the Centre of Easingwold.  Would reccommend the Chicken Supreme and Sea Bass dishes!

From their website: "
The New Inn at Easingwold is a pub at the heart of this market town community. You can expect a warm welcome and a taste of Yorkshire with our offering of real ales and a commitment to serving great quality local produce.
Our popular restaurant serves delicious seasonal dishes, created from the freshest of local produce. Our head chef is passionate about celebrating the wonderful fish and seafood available from the Yorkshire coastline, so you’ll also find a great range of seafood specials available at the New Inn - especially on Fish Fridays."

They also have an app for the group of Inns that they are also partnered with so you can get loyalty offers.

Until next post. Rae.

Husthwaite Open Gardens 2019

The Husthwaite Open Gardens

of 2019

Husthwaite, York, North Yorkshire, UK

Rae, Jenny, Terry, and two other fellow Happy Eaters went to the small villages local Open Gardens which like Sutton-on-the-forest and Coxwold before them were beautifully laid out and much thought went in from the owners of their gardens.   We'd been to the other two the past last weekends back and thought we'd try the Husthwaite's turn! ... It went well, until... the rain again hammered down and we were soaked to the skin with it! Not to mention cars going my didn't even have the decency to stop and think about the poor padestrians going by having come out from looking at the houses... yep we got soaked alright.  Shame we didn't manage to make it back to the newly furbished village hall in the centre-ish of the village.  Rae and Jenny had lived in the Village of Husthwaite previously for 8 years or so when Rae was little and being in a local book that came out at the time.  We even were there for one Jubilee and Rae still has the book and mug!

Here are some photos of the Husthwaite open gardens... especially Annabel (No 7, Damson Garth) and her purple fox gloves and great knowledge of the plants in her / their garden. Thank you and to the others for letting me photograph your gardens!

The Open gardens were this weekend and the website ( http://www.opengardens.co.uk/open_gardens.php?id=1934 ) noted this about the Husthwaite ones "An interesting and varied collection of gardens in North Yorkshire's Orchard Village, from small back gardens to several acres."

Husthwaite being famous for it's Apple Orchards and also the many footpaths and walks around it's area.

You can see and hear more about the village of Husthwaite and their website at:

They also have the most spectacular views of the White Horse of Kilburn... which we use to see out of my mothers window when we lived there.  One definate thing she will miss!

Until next blog...stay safe and well. Rae. x

No net and being a Book fairy!

Hello!

Ok, so this since my last post in may has been a right sort of higgledypiggldy however you may spell that previous word sort of a mess!  I've had to change internet provider so not had much of the internet to go on *sobs!*  not being able to talk to peeps on facebook how shocking lol!

But on a good note and news I lost 5 and a half lbs in weight, started walking more for my health, re-became a book-faerie (will get to that in a moment!) and new internet with nowtv! So hopefully I can now do more blogs.... oh and another good note is that it's just stopped raining! woo ...

BOOK FAIRIES!

https://ibelieveinbookfairies.com/

Book fairies are people whom love books and place them a bit like book crossing but without codes, these 'book fairies' place books all around the world and can be anyone! Even me... I've just gone into York having had to get some new walking boots to go on walks with my friend Soo.

From the book fairies website noted above... they say:

"Yes. Book fairies do exist. I believe in book fairies and so do you… perhaps you’ve found a book. Perhaps you’ve just stumbled upon us by accident. Perhaps you have heard of these magical creatures who selflessly give to others and expect nothing in return."

Go and have a look at their website!
