Elf on the Shelfs! - ADULTS ONLY please...

Image result for Elf on the Shelf logoELF ON THE SHELF - The Good, the bad and the ugly...

Ok, so common you must have heard of Elf on the shelf? It's been going for over a few years now and becoming more and more of a trend on youtube and social media.  Santa's scouts are all over the place... but if you just don't know here's a recap from their website or rather good old google!

What is the Elf on the Shelf? The child-friendly answer: meet your friendly scout elf who Santa sent from the North Pole to check whether children are being naughty or nice in the run-up to Christmas. ... On Christmas Eve it returns to the North Pole.

If you're not familiar with this growing holiday tradition, the Elf on the Shelf, in the form of a cheaply made elf doll that will set you back 30 bucks, is dispatched from the North Pole at the start of Advent to keep a watchful eye on the children and make sure they belong on Santa's “nice” list.

Ok, back to Rae.  So when I say the Good, the Bad and the Ugly... trust me all you have to do is search youtube.com for Elf on the Shelfs being naughty or dirty... hence why I said adults please at the top they really should put an age restriction on some of the vlogs I have seen tsk tsk bad elves... there are definatly some bad elves out there... THE BEST though I've seen is from the Skory's an American group of friends that work together who have recently just got a 'Bad Elf' and their stuck with it until Santa takes him back on Christmas day!! So far to this day I'd let a kiddie watch it nothing too bad yet, BUT THERE IS SOME THAT ARE JUST PLAIN DISGUSTING!! Elf poop all over the place and ok just go and search if you dare!

The Skory's can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheSkorys  and the elf on the shelf can be found at www.theelfontheshelf.com

Until next time

Project Semicolon - ;

 ;

A Semicolon, not just a grammar mark.

People around the world are using the ; punctuation mark as a sign of raising awarness for not just suicide awarness, prevention or help but to also raise awarness for mental illness.

Copied most of this text, whilst sitting indoors having chatted to a friend of a friend or rather a friend of a pen pal on the social media platform that is rather infamously called Facebook.  Having read my pen pal Mazzie's post on her own take on raising awarness a friend of hers reccommended I 'I google about it, hence why the links!

https://projectsemicolon.com project semicolon;  says:

"Within the belief that suicide is generally preventable, the mission of Project Semicolon is to help reduce the incidents of suicide in the world through connected community and greater access to information and resources. We believe that suicide prevention is the collective responsibility of each and every person on the planet."

also a link to a metro news post I found also on google:
https://metro.co.uk/2015/07/01/project-semicolon-people-are-drawing-semi-colons-on-their-wrists-as-a-message-of-hope-5274404/?ito=article.desktop.share.top.link

Personally, I have known penpals, friends and also myself in a way struggling with the whole raising awarness of mental illness and not being able to cope, I've been through it and so have many others out there.

Project Semicolon is a global non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and love for those who are struggling with mental illness, suicide, addiction and self-injury. Project Semicolon exists to encourage, love and inspire.

Please if anyone has any reviews or if this has helped you please comment to this post. - Rae

The Case of the Disappearing Freddos

Rae's Random Acts!!

Yup, our towns been doing what most have over here in the UK.  Which is painting rocks to put out for others to find and rehide!! So Rae thought it would be a great idea to hide some of her rocks for others to find whilst she worked at our local tourist information centre.... I went and bought (yes crazy as I am) BOUGHT 5 Chocolate Frog Freddos!
I didn't manage to catch 3 of the lucky winners but I did catch this pair! :D THANK YOU SO much for posting for a photo! Let me know if I can tag your names in! :D -Rae

When Teddy met Milly!

DOGGIE OF THE MONTH AWARD - SEPTEMBER 2018!!!

Whilst Rae, Jenny, Terry and Milly the Border Terrier were in Harrogate having a wander round we went into this little (not so little?) Doggie friendly pub called The Old Bull (Will link their website below).

There we met a lovely couple called John and Cath from Manchester and their dog Teddy! I gave her my card (that sounds rather too official!) and after what felt like ages I am only just putting this up I am so so sorry!!! It was really lovely meeting you and I hope you all had a safe journey back to Manchester and more doggie treats were followed!

Doggie Bags and Wildlife

So I've recently been doing a bit of 'environmental health' if you can call it that. For some this might sound a bit too weird for them. So I went on a bike ride just little or rather not so little lol old me... that's after I saw an artical THAT I now can't find for the life of me about someone in the states setting up little stations or rather doggie bag containers so people can just pick and put more in when they have spares.  For other doggie owners, and there is an awful lot of dog foul out there that I've nearly ridden or stepped in and it's getting disgusting for not only children but adults and the elderly too! So here are my random acts that I did!

^The snicket when the dog foul bin is placed, sometimes I tie them to lamposts and trees to although im never sure thats a good idea.  This perticular snicket has been playing a good part in my random acts when I use to put tea bags down here...
A little blackbird that I found just sitting on the ground it seemed not to be able to move at first then after about 5 minutes of the poor thing being watched by me wondering what on earth to do, it kind of shuffled into the undergrowth and hopefully out of harmes way. I hope it is ok, what do you guys think? What do you do when you find an animal or bird like this?

Lunch on Bishopthorpe Rd's finest!

Rae and the #TheHappyEaters went and had lunch today at Robinsons Cafe on Bishopthorp Road in York centre.  This was after sadly missing the hot air balloons on the Knavesmire Rae and Jax (and Jax's fiancee and sister in law) had a lovely lunch time meal further down from the car parking on York's rather well known street.  The Smashed Avacardo, Salmon and Eggs were to die for! Lovely and well made.

You can find them on Facebook by searching: Robinsons on facebook

Until next time,

Blessings,

Rae.

Fox Hunting?!

They say fox hunting has now stopped in England, in the UK, but videos and live streams and what not such as this keep popping up all over the place that I've seen. It's also strange that I can't find one 'pro fox hunting' video or vlog that says that they don't do this kind of hunting let alone any kind of hunting... and for the record no I'm not a Vegan!

I take peoples opinions on fox and other hunting, just please mind your language like I've seen with an 'Anti-Fracking' post I once saw!  If you are 'Pro-Hunting' I'd love to also voice your opinion along with mine and the other person who did this videos.

Ok, I am monitoring comments to all my blog posts, this is only my opinion in text, the video is not mine but one that I found of many on Youtube.

Rae Blames the Rocks!!!

Rae Blames The Painted Stones Lol!

Something strange happened recently.... You see in our town they've been putting out painted rocks for the kiddies or kiddos to rehide and take pictures of... One day early last week I ended up putting a few stones out in our local town and one lady in I think her 50s or so came up to me asking what on earth I was doing it for... I said it's started a craze off nowadays where kids and big kids like me get all excited painting rocks and we go out finding them or in my case just leaving them out and seeing who finds them... we sat down on a bench and chatted about it in our local market square... and I gave her one of my tea bags and a hot chocolate sachet... she said what is this for? I said I also do random acts of kindness projects on a website and page online called Kindspring where it's members do random acts of kindness for others and the public she then burst out crying and hugged me! lol

Dog waste bags

Hello Readers,

Ok, yet again I must keep up to date with blog posts to take my mind of those dreaded appointments that most of us worry about! Well definatly me! I'm still doing the rock hunting in my local town with our towns painted rock members! Which seems to have slowed down more so now due to the kiddies being back at school and all is left with the poor parents! I've seen a few good ones that people have posted but non so far this week myself! I must go about and put these out that I painted to see if anyone picks them up! Do others do it all over the world? Please comment and let me know if you do where you are?!

Well another thing I do as I ab solutly hate and I'm sure a lot of people do is leave dog poop bags on the doggie bins and other places for people to use, how many times I've just seen dog doos all over the pavements and what not ready for someone to step in it's disgusting so I've googled and liked the idea that somone had of a dog share bag, not sure how long it will last but I could always give it a try and see if they do do it!

I mean you can buy these for as less as £1 from your local market stall how hard is it to pop into a shop for that much and get some?

I wish people would clean up after their dogs! Most people do, but there's always someone just not willing to pick up after their pet.  No I don't have a dog or a cat or a pet but my mum and step father do and they pick up after their Border Terrier! I have had a few people thank me for putting them out sometimes I put tags on although some arnt weather kept so you never know how long they'll last. I couldn't laminate them all.

The Happy Eaters

The Happy Eaters!

Ok, so this might look a bit strange and it's all my fault really (Rae), me and my friends get together different friends each time and some like to do little random acts of kindness when we're out and about and help others. So Rae being as daft and Random as ever started a facebook page up called obviously The Happy Eaters, Jax's idea for the name though and we're fairly new at doing it, although Rae's been doing it possibly a bit longer!

There's currently been Jax, Rae, Richard, Marie, Sarah, Claire, Hannah and John.

(Not all together at one place YET!)

Sometime's its just Jax and Rae, or Jax, Rae and Richard or Rae and John or Hannah, Jax and Rae or Claire, Jax and Rae and so forth...We are an odd bunch off people liking all different things at different times and places... could be anywhere at anytime...

Rae hopes to post some more on her adventures with the Happy Eaters and hoping to take pictures of all our travels! A massive thank you to all those named above for meeting up with us and being there for us! <3 LOTS OF LOVE to you guys!

If you want to find us you can find us at The Happy Eaters FB page on facebook :D

Curious Brownies RAOK #2

28th July 2018 - In the Curious Table, Easingwold, North Yorks, UK

Every week, I like to try to do random acts of kindness or otherwise known as R.A.O.K. Today of all days when my friends Jax. Claire and Richard were wanting to meet up for Breakfast at the curious table. I thought I'd get 3 Brownies and give them to random strangers so I did... if these were you and Rae and Jax gave them to you this morning let us know on the comments below this post and say hi and if you liked them! I get rather addicted to these little Brownies, mostly not always that 'little'!!

Hope you enjoyed them and hoping to do another one soon.

Blessings, Rae.

Geocache of the Week! - Shark Rock Pier (South Africa

www.geocaching.com

GEOCACHE - GC7B9ZV

Shark Rock Pier - Virtual

This Geocache is this weeks pick from cache owner Plainoldgraham located in the South Africa a popular hot spot for their local cachers with over 1,000 caches near by (according to the owner! - maybe one day I'll visit!)

A recent TB of mine has been taken in by the owner and hopefully soon to be placed in one of the tb hotels over there! So exciting! And there I was thinking it wouldn't leave the UK!

The description partly says:
The most prominent feature on Port Elizabeth's shoreline besides the harbours, Shark Rock Pier is the only pier in the city.
Located between Hobie Beach and the Red Windmill the pier is at the very centre of the Port Elizabeth beachfront and is a major landmark and drawcard.
The building of the pier was actually responsible for the creation of Hobie Beach as it is to-day by impeding the tidal drift of sand northwards and causing it to build up. A double benefit to the city.
